One question, we want to specify which tab to be selected. How can one go about doing that?

Salut Christophe
My concern is simpler than coloring rows. It's coloring column, no matter the values. And I didn't find another way to do it but to add columns with "fake" values and use your method with an IF or a CHOOSE , that doesn't choose actually nothing.
Do you happen to have a simpler way to do this?

Thanks

Hello -

I am wondering if I could set the row colour based on two datafields...?

For eg:

I have two columns "Status" and "Priority". Now these are the challenges I have -

1) I want to set the row colour RED if the Priority is HIGH
2) I want to set the row colour GREEN if the Status is CLOSED
3) I want to set the row colour YELLOW if the Status is ONGOING and Priority is (not equal to) HIGH

Is this doable?

Please advise.

Many thanks,
Sujit.

This is wonderful! Thank you for posting these helpful pieces of code. I'm wondering however, if it is possible to utilize this menu multiple times on a single page...

I have multiple areas on my page and would like each 'area' to have its' own menu and 'area' specific content...

I'm new to sharepoint and don't know exactly what to do to customize the code you provided.

I'm a government contractor trying to implement Sharepoint in one of the departments of a government agency.

The EasyTabs webpart is very important to us. However, I was wondering if there was a way to implement nested tabs (having more tabs appear below after click on of the main tabs) by simply tweaking some of the Easy Tabs code.

Does anybody know how to do this?

Hi Christophe, thanks for all the great tips, I implemented colour coding for Lists, Calendars and a Forms List, I found the Lists part relatively easy, I really struggled with the Forms List as you don't seem to have any instructions for this, but I eventually figured it out, and I really struggled with the Calendar List until I realised I need ed to change the field it was using for the Text, but once I figured it out it worked great.

I also implemented the tabs too, that was too easy ;-)

Thanks again.

another great thing would then be, to hide the calculated column(s) in the DispForm.aspx.... Is there any possibility??

At the moment there's the HTML-code, I could set the CEWP there to have the color coded, but better would be not to have it there...

Obviously we communicated the schedule too late for this workshop...

There is a recording of the session, you can have access to it for the same fee as the live workshop (and of course get the 4 animation Web Parts: scrolling news, news ticker, image slider, image rotator). Please contact Mark Miller at endusersharepoint.com for the details.
Are there other people interested in this workshop? If so, Mark and I could schedule another live session in January.

Thanks Larry, I'll check it out.
SharePoint has 2 boxed views in the list of styles, the issue might be that I wrote the script for one of them (boxed, no labels), and it doesn't directly apply to the other one.

Demi, the method requires a picture, but the picture you use doesn't matter. I'd recommend that you keep the one in my example, as it is included by default in your SharePoint environment:
'/_layouts/images/blank.gif'
Did you apply the Text to HTML script on the page? See this post for more information:

Pete, take a look at the loadtip script from Paul Grenier at endusersharepoint.com.
In my calendar workshops, I propose another solution based on the Beauty Tips plugin. See a screenshot here:

I put the image rotator on our site and people really seem to like it...I have received a lot of complements.

Feedback:

1. I too would love to be able to display a caption/comment/description along with the pictures.

2. Sometimes the randomness seems to be stuck in a small subset of the pictures within the library. It will show the same group of 5 or 6 pictures several times before moving on to another batch. I don't want to show the pictures sequentially because people may only stay on the home page long enough to see a few of them.

Is there a way to start on a random picture, but then continue sequentially from that point forward? This way the content would always seem fresh and dynamic and there would be no picture repeats until the list is exhausted.

If these things are do-able that would be fantastic...but if not, Christophe, you still develop great stuff. Keep up the great work!!

Vinod, you should be able to utilize the .ms-WPtitle Span{} Tag to modigy the font color, size and I believe you can bold it as well. This will allow you to force a standardized look across your page.

Christophe, great work on the script. I've successfully used it. However, is there any way to apply CSS to the iframe to make it more consistent with the page styling? I'm trying to make the title field bold using the .ms-vb2, .ms-vb-title for lists on the current site, but it doesn't work for the cross site list.

After a long time finally I have found out the solution.
The problem is because my sharepoint site is not using default language pack.

Default language pack
=IF([Availability Status]="Available", "Yes", "No")

I replaced the ' , ' with ' ; '
=IF([Availability Status]="Available"; "Yes"; "No")

It works! Finally!

Thanks for your time Christophe

Followup post...
Christophe,
Please excuse my previous post which was obviously premature since I now see the variable index being declared beforehand.
In this case, the tabs disappear when the specified code is replaced as instructed.
However, the tabs disappear until the code change is backed out.
Would welcome your thoughts or clarification.
Thank you

Christophe,
In the following excerpt from your post...

- replace it with:
var splitdiv = document.createElement(“div”);
var index = Math.floor(TabsTD.childNodes.length*0.5);
TabsTD.insertBefore(splitdiv,TabsTD.childNodes[index]);
activateTab(ActiveTab);

...is [index] intended as literal syntax or as a parameter?
If intended as a parameter, where would I obtain the value to substitute?

Before the change, the tabs display as a single row, no problem.
After the change, however, using [index] as literal syntax, the tabs are no longer visible.

I am very eager to get this split to work, and look forward to your reply.
Thank you very much
Robin

Hey Christophe,

it has been a while and I see you're getting around. Miss the posts here. I recently saw an update to the boxed views and I remembered that when I implemented this script it did not work. When I looked closely at the page elements I realized I needed some additional code. So I added this to your code and it works great:
boxedview = boxedview.replace(/ /gi," ");

something with the cell tags not having a width caused this script to fail. once I added this no issues. feel free to use it if you like.

Hi Christophe, I notice you have already been asked if this will work with Calendar Views by 'Marshal' on Sept 4th, to which you replied 'it should do with minor adjustments'. I've tried the code, both JavaScript and jQuery, to display a Calendar View on another site but nothing is shown once the 'scripts' complete their load. I'd be most grateful if you could advise what the 'minor adjustments' you refer to might be as I'm afraid my knowledge of either code is very limited. Thanks, David

Hi Chris,
I'm using IE6. Below is the modified formula that I'm using. Perhaps I've got an extra " or two and that's why it's not working as expected. I'm not sure.
Thanks!

Hi Chris,
I'm trying the above script "Example 2: color coding list rows" to highlight the whole row with color but not able to get it.

From instruction above, I created a column name "color" where I set my condition and getting the required cell color, and a blank picture "blank.gif" in picture library. However, still failed to get the color out. I'm not sure where went wrong?

Btw is it a must to have "blank.gif" as for my example is pretty simple. I have only 2 conditions, "Yes/No". If Yes, the whole row will be highlighted.

Thanks in advance for your advise

Hi Cristophe,

Thanks for your great tutorials! Is there a way for when hovering over a normal sized calendar to have the details (i.e. columns) of the appointment show? it's for use of a training schedule calendar which only shows names by default. Thanks in advance :)

Adrien, I think you missed one small step in design mode:
"Our last action in design mode is to select all the column headers and delete them."
The technique should work for 4 levels, but I haven't tried myself.

Just want I wanted - new to Sharepoint and thought they would have stuff like this!!! Got everything working except that when I view the page I can see the column headings. I've worked through the instructions lots of times and always the column headings are displayed but can't see where I'm making the error - can any one help?

Also I want to expand the navigation to at least 4 levels - can this be done easily? If so, is there anything to watch out for.

I'm having the same trouble. When I go to the page with the webpart on it, there's no formatting. However, when I click on Edit Page the formatting is automatically applied. If I then close the "Edit Page", the formatting remains. BUT, f I navigate away from the page, and come back to it the formatting is gone and I have to repeat the process to bring the formatting back. Is anyone else experiencing this issue, or found a resolution for it?
Thanks for any feedback!

Ok so the funny thing is this; Your easytabs + the js/jq.scrollable.js! Easy Tabs v3.5?

I am trying to wrap the scrollable script (very small foot print) onto your existing java... I want the slide to left/right to happen on click of the tab name. Since the tabs are created by the webparts that are on the screen I thought this would be an awesome addition.

I had it working for like a hot minute then something stopped working or I forgot to save the script changes. CTRL-z is the death of me.

Hopefully that explains what I am trying to accomplish. You can see on the demo page of the scrollable the left to right of tabs.

I am so close to finishing this... I will post my findings eventually!
